1. Who we are

GCIN (Ghana Consumer Intelligence Network) operates the Consumer Intelligence Observatory Ghana (CIOG) platform. We process personal data as a data controller under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

2. What we collect

  • Account data: name, email, region, phone (optional).
  • Complaint data: subject, narrative, sector, severity, attachments.
  • Evidence files: documents/images you upload, stored privately.
  • Technical: IP address, browser type, timestamps (for security).

3. Why we collect it

  • To route your complaint to the appropriate regulator or business.
  • To produce anonymized national intelligence (the five GCIF indices).
  • To send you status updates on your complaint.
  • To meet our legal and audit obligations.

4. Who can see your data

Only you and authorised administrators can see your individual complaints, profile, and evidence. Aggregated, anonymized signal feeds the indices — never personal identifiers.

5. Your rights

You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@gcin.gh. We respond within 30 days.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is governed by row-level security policies. Privileged roles can only be assigned by the platform operator.

7. Retention

Complaint records are retained for 7 years for audit. Account data is retained until you request deletion.

8. Changes

Material changes will be announced on this page and via email to registered users.
